WINTER NEWSLETTER
New CLAMS Computer System Coming!!!
After 22 years, all the CLAMS libraries will be switching to a new computer system. Not only will this be a huge change for library personnel, it will also mean a big change for patrons who use CLAMS from home to:
1. Order books and materials
2. Check your account
3. Download e-materials
4. Search for information
The new system is scheduled to take effect at the end of February, 2023. As with any new computer change, please be patient with our library staff as they try to navigate new screens, different terminology, and the always dreaded, computer glitches in the beginning.
We will try to have information and brochures available for patrons on how to access this new system from home. This is both exciting and terrifying, but we will all get through it with humor, and understanding and patience!
2023 is bringing the following changes to the library.
DENNIS LIBRARIES ARE NOW -- FINE FREE!!
While that sounds wonderful for patrons it is a problem for the Dennis Memorial Library for the following reasons:
1. We are a private library and fine monies are a significant part of our budget. (Town owned libraries often have to return fine money back to the town's general fund, so going fine-free doesn't affect their budget).
2. Patrons are less responsible about getting materials back in a timely manner, resulting on other patrons having to wait longer to get the book they are waiting for.
3. Because people aren't worried about returning their materials on time, we are experiencing many more "lost" items.
If you would like to help makeup our shortfall, please make a donation to our fines Donation container. We would be very grateful!!! Thank you
BOOK DONATIONS
The Dennis Memorial Library is now accepting book donations with the following criteria:
1. All genres in GOOD condition (preferably no older than 5 years)
2. Children's books
3. DVDs and Audio books
4. NO textbooks, coffee table books, or very old books.
5. NO clean outs (old moldy, buggy, yellowed books stored in garage or attic)
6. Staff will make final decisions on acceptance of items
We use these donations to add to our collection, sell them to raise money for the library, or especially for our Little Libraries by the Sea. Thank you so very much.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are also continuing our popular curb service. Just call the library and request that the items you ordered be put on the table on the porch.
We continue to offer new books, DVDs, audio books, magazines, puzzles and games.
Be sure to check out all the down-loadable material available with your CLAMS card.
We are here to help you with all your library needs and our knowledgeable, friendly volunteers look forward to serving you.
